We had a great time celebrating Joash's birthday. He requested a Lego logo cake.   Oma and Opa came for coffee time and we had gifts and cake. So many great gifts for Joash. He was pretty pleased with all of them. We also went swimming in the afternoon and pretty much had the pool to ourselves. The life guards still opened the water slide for a little while, so that was pretty awesome. Both Joash and Mataya were brave enough to go down the slide by themselves for the first time. Then we headed to Boston Pizza a the request of the birthday boy. He gave it a big thumbs up!  And he was pretty thrilled with his first experience with a free birthday dessert and song from the wait staff. It was a fun day!

 Mataya had a great 6th birthday last week. She designed her cake and I executed her ideas as best I could. Mataya asked for a heart on her cake with smaller hearts on the side and light blue writing. She got lots of lovely gifts this year and has been enjoying all of them! Tante Reina came by on the day before her birthday and had some fun gifts for Mataya as well.

We had a lovely time celebrating Gideon's birthday. This year was the year for a farm cake. He is three! But, he couldn't quite figure out how to hold up three fingers.  But, we have candle blowing figured out!  Opa, Oma and Tante Reina came for cake after school on Friday. Gideon opened his gifts and everyone had fun playing with them.  He got a new swim suit and insisted on wearing it for most of the day. We are all ready for summer here!

We have an 8 year old in the house! Yesterday was Joash's birthday and we had a great day celebrating. This year I made a cake shaped like an 8.   Joash thought it turned out great, as did I!  It was a PD day, so there was no school. That meant Oma and Opa could come for coffee time. Joash was pretty pleased with his gifts! Books on his favorite topics, cool rocks, a light for reading in bed and real tools!  And Tante Reina came for the birthday supper of pancakes and jello (and bacon and eggs). And Joash will have lots more facts thanks to another new book!

It was my 36th birthday last week, and it was a great one.  My husband and kids got me these lovely flower, a planner for 2019 and some magnetic book marks. So great!  And Wilbert and I went out for lunch and then saw the matinee of Anne and Gilbert downtown. It was a fantastic show! It was a great way to celebrate a great day!

We had a great time celebrating Mataya's birthday yesterday.  It took her a bit to decide what she wanted on her cake. First is was a bunny, then a flower and then she finally settled on a bunny with some flowers by it.  She declared it perfect, so that was great! Here she is with a few of her gifts. A few requests were her own flashlight (not pictured), bunny slippers, activity books with stickers and the biggest one was "slide on shoes." After cake and presents Mataya said with pure joy, "This was the best birthday ever!"

We had a great time celebrating Gideon's birthday last week. He was able to blow out his candles by himself. I made him a cake with a turtle on it because he really likes turtles.  Gideon (and the animals he got for his birthday) really like his cake!  He also like the digger and truck puzzle he received from Grandpa and Grandma.  And in the nice weather last week, Joash showed Gideon how to use his bubble mower. Gideon also got a new swimsuit and beach toys from Opa and Oma that we are saving for the beach this summer!

We had a great time celebrating Joash's 7th birthday. This year, he requested a cake that had a pyramid that looked like it was made out of Lego. He even made a model for me to use while I decorated the cake.  Joash and his gifts. Lego is still a favorite thing and he got his first Lego Technic set for this birthday, which was a big hit. He also really wanted a Nerf gun, so that was a gift as well. He also invited his best friend over during one of the PD days this week, and they had a great time.

It was my 35th birthday earlier this week. When my family asked what I wanted to do, I said I wanted to go to Shining Water Family Fun Park with my family. (Well most of the family. We decided it would be more fun for everyone if Gideon spent the day with Oma and Opa.) It is something I had been wanting to do with the kids all summer and weather was looking great on my birthday, so that was the day. And it was so fun! Big fish!   Shining Waters is a mix of amusement parks rides and water slides. I think our kids were the perfect ages to introduce them to the world of amusement parks. They were both tall enough to do almost everything. Joash was super brave and excited and tired just about everything once (except for the water slides. Everyone had to go down individually and neither of the kids were ready for that). We had a lovely day celebrating Mataya's birthday. Her request for her cake this year was Mimmy, Hello Kitty's sister. At first I forgot to put on the whiskers.  But I caught my mistake before it was cake time.  Gideon really enjoyed eating cake. I neglected to take pictures of Mataya with her gifts, but maybe I will get some another day. Happy 4th Birthday Mataya!

We had a great time celebrating Gideon's 1st. There was lots of present opening, present assembly and playing in boxes. Joash and Mataya were eager helpers.  And there was cake. I did a pretty simple and basic cake for Gideon, but I am please with how it turned out.  Gideon was very eager to get a taste.  And while it is hard to see his expression, it is safe to say he was a big fan of birthday cake. He made sure someone shared with him anytime he saw someone with cake.
