The last day of regular classes for this semester was held today. One of my students brought Scotch-O-Roo's for the class. ("They have chocolate on them Mrs. T, you will like them"). Which is true. I actually adore Scotch-O-Roo's.
One of the student received two, since there were extras. He decided to eat one right away(which he attempted to shove in his mouth whole) and save the other one for later. Everyone was supposed to be working on a exam review sheet, but this student was very distracted today and was not really doing what he should have been. This of course distracts others as well, so I finally said, "If you don't work on your review, I am going to take you Scotch-O-Roo away." That propmted him to get right to work away.
For about three minutes. Then he started right back up again. He was turned around talking to someone behind him, so I stealthfully went up to his desk to get his bar. He turned around just as I got there and said , " No, don't take my bar," and then proceeded to watch me take it off his desk. He totally could have beat me to it if he would have tried, but instead he just watched me take it.
I then hid it from him for the rest of class and all was well in the English room.

I used to tell my students that if they played with toys during class time I would take them away and save them for my own kids some day. They were horrified and didn't believe me, I said, "Why would I buy toys if I can get them for free?". Our cat still plays with a Mario ball that I confiscated.
