Evie
Blackwell loves her life as an Illinois State Police detective . . .
mostly. She's very skilled at investigations and has steadily moved
up through the ranks. She would like to find Mr. Right, but she has a
hard time imagining how marriage could work, considering the demands
of her job.
Gabriel Thane grew up in Carin County and is now its sheriff, a job he loves. Gabe is committed to upholding the law and cares deeply for the residents he's sworn to protect. He too would like to find a lifetime companion, a marriage like his parents have. . . .
When Evie arrives in Carin, Illinois, it's to help launch a new task force focused on unsolved crimes across the state. She will work with the sheriff's department on a couple of its most troubling missing-persons cases. As she studies old evidence to pull out a few tenuous new leads, she unearths surprising connections. One way or another, she knows Gabriel Thane and his family will be key to the answers she seeks.

Traces
of Guilt by Dee Henderson is
another fantastic book by Dee Henderson. I enjoy reading all of Dee
Henderson's books and this one did not disappoint. I am excited
because this one seems like it is the first in a series focusing on
Evie Blackwell, which means more great books to come. Like all of
Henderson's book, the story is so engaging. The mystery pulls you in
and doesn't let you go until the very end. And the characters are
thoughtful and feel real. I especially like how this book, like
others Henderson has written, pulls from the same pool of characters,
but focuses on different ones. It was great to read more about the
characters of Paul and Ann Falcon once again. I like that the women
that Handerson writes about like Ann and Evie are very strong women
doing powerful jobs and seeing God through it all. They are
empowering! If you are looking for a book to pull you in it's mystery
and satisfy if with just enough romance to smooth over the rough
edges, you will really enjoy Traces of Guilt.
