Talen/VanderGroef Family Visit

Not only did Emil and Karisa and Thomas and Reina come back for a visit last week, but Karisa's family from New Jersey also came for a visit. The farm boys fit right in. The go-kart came out.  and needed to be worked on. The ladies watched... and had a fun morning in Victoria by the Sea. Yum chocolates ! We had a meal at Fisherman's Wharf . Most everyone went deep sea fishing . Joash even got to drive the boat. Mataya caught quite the fish! That evening we enjoyed the days catch at Harrie and Geesje's house. The kids and friend Tina enjoyed playing with Oom Emil. The kids also enjoyed having extra people to play with like Karisa's brother Tim and Corey. Thanks for visiting everyone! We had a really nice time. Come again soon!

Disc Golf at Hillcrest Farm

Last week, when most of Wilbert's family was here (we missed you Jander and Tiffany) we went disc golfing at Hillcrest Disc Golf . It was a great morning! We were able to do the first nine holes in about two hours. It was a beautiful course in the rolling hills near Bonshaw. The course is professionally designed and very well maintained. The entry fee and disc rental is very reasonable. And we picked a day with perfect weather. Not too hot and just enough breeze to keeps the bugs at a minimum. It could be a pretty buggy place if there was no breeze. It was a great family outing and something that Wilbert and I have said we will do again when our kids are big enough to actually play the course. They were troopers walking through the first nine holes. Gideon rode in the stroller. It is not really a stroller friendly course, but we had lots of help to take him safely through. We all highly recommend Hillcrest Disc Golf course to anyone looking for a fun activity.

Shelly

Meet Shelly the clam, our attempt to introduce our children to life in the ocean. We went to the beach a few weeks back. It was a lovely afternoon at home. We arrived at the beach and everyone settled in for some fun in the sand. It was much cooler at the beach then it had been at home. I sat by Gideon with a towel around my shoulders. After a while, I looked around a there were some rather dark clouds in the distance and you could tell it was raining. Other people on the beach noticed and people started packing up and leaving in droves. We decided to stay a little longer and as the clouds moved closer, things got lighter. Joash brought Shelly to the blanket saying they had just dug it up and wanted to take it home to see if the animal would come out of its shell. Soon, I felt a few rain drops. I went to tell Wilbert and we decided to go home since it was pretty much time to head home anyway. I got back to the blanket and started to put Gideon in his car seat when the heavens o

Gideon - 3 months

Love these cheeks! M(om): Gideon, you are 3 months old today! G(ideon): Wow! This month has gone really fast! M: I know. We have been very busy (hence the lack of blog posts this month). What are some of the things we have been doing? G: So many things. I went to the beach for the first time. I met Oom Emil and Tante Karisa. I even went to VBS. I am smiling and cooing lots and I really like to try and roll from my back to belly. But my arm always stops me from getting all the way over. M: You have been doing so many things! How are things like eating and sleeping going? G: I don't mind sleeping at all. I like to have good naps in my bed and I like to sleep long through the night. Everyone is much happier when I do this and I am too! And I like to eat. I am getting faster at it, so I also have more time to play M: I do appreciate how well you sleep and eat. I am thankful that you are pretty easy going. I can't wait to see what the next month brings!
