20 Months

Mom: Mataya, you are 20 months old today!

M(ataya): Really? I didn't know that.

Mom: It is true. It is so amazing to see what a big girl you are becoming.

M: Thanks mom! I do like all of the different things around me that I get to see and do. And I really like to tell you all about them.

Mom: I know. I just wish I could understand you a bit better so I knew everything you were telling me. You certainly sound like everything you are saying is really important.
M: Well, there are so many things that I like to do and see. I love to be outside, even in the snow. Though I wish I could just play in it with my bare hands all of the time. I like to read books by myself. I like to look at animals from a distance. But when they get too close, that is a little scary. And I like to dance and sing and watch Curious Geroge and Pancake Manor on the computer. And I really like to race with Dad.
Mom: Your Dad and I talk a lot about how you are a really funny girl already. You do a lot of little goofy things that make us all laugh. Anything else new?

M: I am getting really good at naming things, including people from my family and myself.
Mom: It is really fun looking at pictures with you and seeing whom you can name. Though, you do think that a lot of people look like Oom Jander.

M: Well I do love my family and getting "(s)nuggles." Can I have a "nuggle" now?

Mom: Sure. I love you, Mataya.

M: I love you too, Mom.

4 Weeks Already

Check out my four week muscles! I can't believe that Joash is four weeks old already. It seems like it was just yesterday that was born. Thankfully things are going really well. Today he had another check up with the public health nurse and he is out of the woods weight wise now. I am so thankful for this. Now we can just do our own thing and let Joash take more of the lead as to when he would like to feed and things like that. He always eats so much better when he wants to eat. As he grows, he is more alert too, which is quite fun. It is pretty clear that he needs his sleep though, too. Today's public health visit overlapped with his nap time and was all out of sorts until 1:00 when he finally settled in for a nap after his second feeding following the public health nurse visit. It amazes me how I can be pretty frustrated with him and then looks at me with his big blue eyes and does something cute that makes my heart melt once again.

A Perspective

I have already mentioned my "Word of the Day" screen saver that I have on my laptop that is hooked up to the projector in my room. I am learning that the words go in cycles a bit, so the same word will pop up in several classes during the day. Today's popular word was "entitlement." A fantastic word to share with teenagers who often think they are entitled to a whole lot of stuff. In fact, we as humans often think we are entitled to a whole lot of stuff when really we are fallen people who deserve nothing but death. We so often miss how wonderful and blessed our life really is and we get caught up on the little things. This video sort of puts that in perspective in a rather humorous way. I am by no means promoting this comedian, but if you take what he says to heart, it is so true. We live in an amazing world, created by an amazing God. We really should be happy with the blessing we have been given.
