Joash - the creator

Joash has really started to like making things. His creations are quite varied and very interesting. I am always surprised with what he comes up with.
He still really enjoys Lego. He got the little Mixel set to make the crab on the left from a friend at school. The crab sort of has a treasure chest for a mouth. Joash decided to make a treasure chest of his own. It has a hinged top and full of Lego "jewels" *i.e. the things that are often used as lights on Lego vehicles).

Last Sunday as I was getting ready for church, Joash asked if he could have glue and scissors because he was going to make a cow. I said, "Okay." And this is the finished product. Note the word bubble coming out of the mouth. It says "Moo." He has since added an udder to the cow as well.

Today Joash made an old map. He wrote 2001 on it because that is when it was used by the pirates. Apparently that is a really long time ago. He informed me that old maps are often brown and the edges are torn. He has since added some words to label the landmarks on the map.

Mataya's 5th Birthday!

We had a great time celebrating Mataya's birthday yesterday.
It took her a bit to decide what she wanted on her cake. First is was a bunny, then a flower and then she finally settled on a bunny with some flowers by it.
She declared it perfect, so that was great!

Here she is with a few of her gifts. A few requests were her own flashlight (not pictured), bunny slippers, activity books with stickers and the biggest one was "slide on shoes."
After cake and presents Mataya said with pure joy, "This was the best birthday ever!"

A Visit from Emil, Karisa and Zeke

A few weeks ago we had a great visit from Emil, Karisa and Zeke. There was lots of cousin love...  Oom Emil love....
And Oom Wilbert and tractor magazine love...
There were lots of walks with Oma...
 And trips to the beach...
They were here over Canada, so there was the annual Church Picnic, of course...

It was a cool day, but no rain.
But yes, I did wear my sweater on the beach.
We also took a family morning and visited The Butterfly House
It was lovely and peaceful and most of the family enjoyed it. Zeke was a little nervous the whole time, but over all did well. We also had a picnic lunch and saw the Young Company Show at the Confederation Center.
We had a great time and were sad to see them go. Hopefully the time will just fly by until our next visit.

What's Going On?

So I have been really bad at blogging lately. Anyway, here are some highlights from the last little bit.

And the biggest news is that Joash's other front tooth fell out. He was pretty excited about this and now has a pretty big hole in his mouth.
