What I Do All Day

I am really enjoying being a stay a home mom. But I know some people wonder what I do all day. So, I thought I would give you a little glimpse of what occupies my day.

1) Feeding, Playing, and Caring for Joash. This obviously takes up the most time and it is the reason I am home. Joash still is not a long napper, but he is usually quite pleasant while he is awake and has enough changes in his activity. Thankfully he plays well independently and can be entertained for a long time with his gym and swing. Since he usually naps in 1/2 hour chunks, I need to have some freedom to do some things while he is awake.

2) Laundry and Housework. Since we are using cloth diapers, I have at least one load of laundry every other day. And since I don't really like cleaning the house, but I also don't like a dirty house, I have to clean sometimes too. I have currently broken my house up into five pieces (Dusting up stairs, dusting down stairs, etc.) and I make myself do one section a day, so that the whole house is cleaned once a week.

3) Cooking and Baking. I enjoy making meals and baking yummy treats. I decided it was time to try some new stuff, so I picked one of my cookbooks and marked all of the recipes that sounded good. So, now when I am planning my food for the week, I go to that cookbook first and pick out a variety of tasty sounding dishes. We have had some really good and different things like Caramelized Pork Slices, Crunchy Garlic Chicken, Asiago Cheese Bread, and Butterscotch Brownies. It has been fun to try different stuff and find that these recipes are really quite easy.

4) Reading. Enough said. If you know me, you know I like to read and that hasn't changed.

5) Card Making. It has been so nice to get back into this craft again. When I have a chance, I go into my craft room and try and make just one card. I am going through all of my stamps and trying to use each one. All of the cards I have made I have left the words off so that I can add those when I actually use the card. My goal is to get a good stock pile of cards again because it is so much easier to send cards when you actually have them on hand. If you want to see my latest cards, you can check out my card blog. Here is the most recent one I made.
6) Computer and Game time. I also like to go on the computer and blog, read other blogs, play games, etc. I also enjoying doing word puzzles and I have a few puzzle books that I like to try my hand at.

All in all, this keeps me pretty busy and I enjoy my time at home.

The Best Summer of Our Lives by Rachel Hauck

Twenty years ago, the summer of '77 was supposed to be the best summer of Summer Wilde's life. She and her best friends, Spring, Autumn, and Snow--the Four Seasons--had big plans. But those plans never had a chance. After a teenage prank gone awry, the Seasons found themselves on a bus to Tumbleweed, "Nowhere," Oklahoma, to spend eight weeks as camp counselors. All four of them arrived with hidden secrets and buried fears, and the events that unfolded in those two months forever altered their friendships, their lives, and their futures. Now, thirtysomething, Summer is at a crossroads. When her latest girl band leaves her in a motel outside Tulsa, she is forced to face the shadows of her past.
